It has been a great start to the new school year! Thank you for your help to start things right!
As always, should you have questions about anything that follows, please contact the school at (916) 395-5090.
Last week, your student should have received a copy of the District’s annual parent and student rights handbook. A parent survey was included. Known as the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) data collection survey, the results, when reported to the State, directly affect District and site funding allocations. Your data is essential to ensure Kennedy receives what it is due.
Please complete this survey and return it to the school by October 31. Your help is much appreciated!
Link Crew Tailgate Party
Aloha, freshman families! Please remind your freshman to come to the tailgate party on September 14 from 4-6 p.m. Everything is free. Yes, you read that correctly; everything is free! Be sure to bring a school identification card. Offerings include burgers, hot dogs, drinks, and snacks. For more information, please contact Ms. DiBasilio @ Carla-DiBasilio@scusd.edu.
See you there!
Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 13 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Like years past, families of ninth grade students are invited to join counselors and administrators for a special presentation at 6 p.m. in the auditorium. Important information regarding high school and university readiness will be presented. See you there!
School pictures will be taken by LifeTouch on September 11 and 12. Students will receive more information about pictures via their English teacher.
The School Site Council (SSC) is a group of teachers, staff, parents, and students who work with the school’s administration to develop and evaluate school programs and specific budgets. Site Council guides creation of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and typically requires a time commitment of approximately two to three after-school hours per month. There is a parent seat available on the Site Council. If you would be interested in serving, please contact me.
Every California public school, grades kindergarten through 12, with 21 or more English learners must form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Kennedy will hold four ELAC meetings during the 2018-19 school year, and I encourage parents who are interested in to attend.
Please click here for more specific information about ELAC.
The PSAT is fast approaching! All ninth and tenth graders will participate in the PSAT on October 10 during periods one through four. Students will receive practice materials on September 24 from their English teacher. Please follow the embedded links for more information about the PSAT.
Should you have questions, please contact Assistant Principal Buitrago @ Vanessa-Buitrago@scusd.edu.
