This Morning’s Message to Families

The text of this morning’s message to all Kennedy families follows. If, for some reason, you did not receive a call or text, please check to be sure your Infinite Campus contact information is accurate. You may do that by clicking here.

Good morning, John F. Kennedy families. This is Principal David Van Natten.

This call is to inform you of an incident in the neighborhood that was reported to school staff this morning. Yesterday afternoon, a man allegedly approached a student who was walking home, attempted to commit a robbery, and then assaulted the student. Fortunately, bystanders intervened, the police were summoned, and the student later arrived home safely. Law enforcement and District security have been notified and are investigating.

Please take time to remind your student of a few important safety steps:

There is safety in numbers – avoid walking alone; do not take shortcuts – walk only in safe areas; if approached

or followed by a car, do not speak to those inside – run in the opposite direction, and seek help; remain alert to surroundings, and always report suspicious behavior.

If you have any questions or information about this incident, please contact the school at 916-395-5090.

Thank you.

Class of 2019

As in years past, Graduation 2019 will be held at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. The time and date will be June 12 at 3 p.m.

This morning, seniors attended an important assembly about graduation and received a variety of end-of-the-year information. A representative from Josten’s will be back on campus Friday, November 9 to take orders. In addition, Sober Grad Nite tickets will again be for sale that same day.

KCRA 3 Food Drive

Thank you to all who have so generously donated to the KCRA 3 Food Drive 2018. Donations will continue to be accepted through Wednesday, November 7.

As before, Mr. Lam (T-5) is again coordinating the effort. In the past, donations from just JFK have allowed a supply of food for a month-and-a-half longer than projected.

  Winter Athletes

Be sure your student is cleared to play! Details are available here.

Visitation Day

If you know a prospective eighth grade family who may be interested in learning more about John F. Kennedy, please encourage them to consider the upcoming November 6 Visitation Day. After a brief introduction to JFK, beginning in the auditorium at 9:30, attendees will be released to tour the five fantastic Kennedy pathways: Criminal Justice, Manufacturing & Design (MaD), PACE, Marine Corps. MJROTC, and Culinary. Administrators will be on hand to answer questions.
