John F. Kennedy Bulletin
March 17, 2021
Dear John F. Kennedy Families:
This week’s bulletin primarily covers topics related to the reopening plan. I understand there will still be unanswered questions, but I hope the following provides some clarity. Remember, the Reopening Dashboard is a one-stop source for current information related to a safe reopening. The Return to Health page explains the different mitigation protocols that have been implemented. As additional details are released, I will be in touch. Our social media platforms are usually the first to be updated, so be sure to frequently check the school’s website and follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
As always, should you need to speak to a staff member, we are available at (916) 395-5090.
Good news! We look forward to welcoming students back to in-person learning based on the following schedule:
- April 8 – Return of PreK–3 students, and K-6 Special Day Classes (SDC)
- April 15 – Return of 4-6 grade students
- No later than May 6 – Return of 7-12 grade students
The bell schedule has not yet been determined. Once it is, I will share it with you.
In-Person or Distance Instruction?
You have choices! As we prepare for reopening, it is important that we know if your student will return to in-person instruction or remain in distance education. If you have not already, there is still time (but not much) to register your preference. Take the District’s learning survey by clicking here.
The deadline is tonight at 11:59 p.m. If, for some reason, you change your decision after submitting the form, please contact the school at (916) 395-5090.
This video, produced by District staff, provides general information about reopening protocols that ensure safety. Although not tailored specifically to high school, it offers good information, nonetheless, about the in-person, concurrent instructional model that we will utilize.
As a bell schedule is finalized and a start date chosen, the staff and I will distribute a video to introduce (or reintroduce) Cougars to Kennedy. Obviously, things at school will look a little bit different, but I am confident that we will all quickly become acclimated. Look for the video to arrive in the next few weeks!
