Dear John F. Kennedy Families:

Last Thursday, we welcomed Cohort ‘B’ as in-person instruction resumed. It was fantastic to see our students back on campus again! Tomorrow, we will greet Cohort ‘A.’ Families, thank you for your support, patience, and understanding. A few important items follow.

Free COVID Testing

Free and easy COVID testing is available for all students! Complete information is here along with a sign-up link. The attached flyer includes details pertaining to students who wish to test.

Arrival for In-Person Instruction

Remember, class will begin at 9 a.m. Students may not enter prior to 8:45 due to COVID mitigation protocols. Click here for a map showing school drop-off locations. Students with a 0 period class will be admitted at 7:35.

All students will enter campus from the west parking lot (this is the same location used for drop-off). No other entrances will be open until after the instructional day begins. Do not use the east parking lot for drop off; gates will be locked.

Late arriving students will enter through the front office.

School will be dismissed at 12:20 p.m. Pick-up will occur in the west parking lot (same location used for drop-off). In order to minimize congestion, it is requested that you park in a marked stall in the parking lot and wait for your student there.

Throughout the day and during the first several days, the school’s student ambassadors will be out and about during arrival, passing periods, and dismissal to provide support, information, and directions. Ambassadors will be prominent, wearing lavender “EQ” shirts, and positioned throughout the campus. Encourage your student to ask for help from an ambassador if needed!

Bell Schedule

A pdf of the bell schedule is here. Please note that school begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 12:20 p.m. A bagged lunch will be available that also contains breakfast for the next morning. All students eat for free. Remind your student to look for lunch carts at all of the main exits.

Bus Routes (Sacramento RT)

In response to the bell schedule change, Sacramento Regional Transit has worked with the school to adjust bus routes. Click here for details. Be mindful that Sacramento RT advises that students arrive to the bus stop a few minutes early as the printed times are estimates.

In-Person or Distance?

We understand that families may realize a need to change between in-person and distance instruction. Should you need to adjust your choice, please fill out and submit a change request.

A.P. Testing

A.P. (Advanced Placement) exams are coming soon!  SCUSD policy is that each and every student enrolled in an AP course is to take the corresponding AP Exam. If you would like to confirm that your child is enrolled for a particular exam, please have them log into the college board website: myap.collegeboard.org/login

SCUSD students will take the AP exam in person* at Kennedy during the window of May 18 - May 28 (please refer to the college board website for exact testing dates and times for each of the exams your child is taking).

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Estela Brown (Estela-Brown@scusd.edu).

*Students needing to schedule a make-up virtual exam in a later testing window will email Asst. Principal Michael Fry (Michael-Fry@scusd.edu)
