John F. Kennedy Bulletin
April 21, 2021
Dear John F. Kennedy Families:
As we get ready for tomorrow, let’s make sure we are ready! A recap of last week’s bulletin follows along with a couple of new items posted at the end.
Arrival for In-Person Instruction
Once in-person instruction resumes on April 22, class will begin at 9 a.m. The earliest permitted arrival is 8:45 a.m. Students may not enter prior to 8:45 due to COVID mitigation protocols. Click here for a map showing school drop-off locations. Students with a 0 period class will be admitted at 7:35.
All students will enter campus from the west parking lot (this is the same location used for drop-off). No other entrances will be open until after the instructional day begins. Do not use the east parking lot for drop off; gates will be locked.
Late arriving students will enter through the front office.
School will be dismissed at 12:20 p.m. Pick-up will occur in the west parking lot (same location used for drop-off). In order to minimize congestion, it is requested that you park in a marked stall in the parking lot and wait for your student there.
Throughout the day and during the first several days, the school’s student ambassadors will be out and about during arrival, passing periods, and dismissal to provide support, information, and directions. Ambassadors will be prominent, wearing lavender “EQ” shirts, and positioned throughout the campus. Encourage your student to ask for help from an ambassador if needed!
A pdf of the bell schedule is here. Please note that school begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 12:20 p.m.
Bus Routes (Sacramento RT)
In response to the bell schedule change, Sacramento Regional Transit has worked with the school to adjust bus routes. Click here for details. Be mindful that Sacramento RT advises that students arrive to the bus stop a few minutes early as the printed times are estimates.
In-Person or Distance?
We understand that families may realize a need to change between in-person and distance instruction. Should you need to adjust your choice, please fill out and submit a change request.
Senior Lawn Signs
Class of 2021 lawn signs have arrived! Get yours here!
Former Matsuyama Students
Attention, former Matsuyama elementary school students who are graduating Seniors! We will take a group photo at Matsuyama on Saturday, April 24 at 10:00 am for the Kennedy yearbook. The cost of the half-page yearbook ad is $150, and the cost will be divided amongst the students participating in the photo.

Sunrise Sacramento Art Competition
Calling all Sacramento County middle school artists! We need you to share stories about how climate change affects us, and what better way to do that than through art? For our first annual Sunrise Sacramento Art Competition, we are asking you to create one piece about the effects of climate change. The winner will have their art design included on an official Sunrise Movement t-shirt. Feel free to apply and spread the word!
