Memorial Day

School is closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. Please enjoy your three-day weekend!

Norovirus

Over the last several weeks, hundreds have been sickened by the norovirus in Sacramento and Yolo counties. Norovirus is highly contagious and spreads rapidly, so it is critical that parents are aware of the symptoms and keep their children home until 48 hours after children no longer are experiencing symptoms – stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea.

Please be aware that hand sanitizer does not kill norovirus. Thorough, vigorous hand washing with soap and water is preferred to hand sanitizer.

The District’s Health Services department has prepared an information letter that includes norovirus prevention tips.

Yearbook

Yearbooks arrived, and distribution started today! If you missed the deadline to purchase, a limited number of extra yearbooks are available and will be on sale next week. For more information, please contact Ms. Hanzlik @ MaryLou-Hanzlik@scusd.edu.

Saturday School

There will be no Saturday School this weekend. If your student needs to attend voluntary Saturday School to expunge unverified absences, please remind him or her to report the following Saturday (June 3).

Sadie Hawkins

The Sadie Hawkins dance is set for Friday, June 2 from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge (6446 Riverside Blvd.). Tickets are on sale Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Seniors are just $1! Everybody else is $5 with ASB or $10 without. Tickets will be sold at the door for $20.

Family Survey

Every California school district is required to survey families on their experiences with regard to school safety and connectedness. This is the first time that Sacramento City Unified has implemented a broad, District-wide survey on these measures. The information from this anonymous survey will be used to inform District decisions in the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and will guide how state funds are used.

Please take the survey to share your views by June 1, so your responses may be incorporated into the LCAP. The short survey should take no more than 20 minutes.
